The uMsunduzi Museum invites interested and suitably qualified candidates to apply for the following.

Position: General Assistant

Salary: R120 168.72 Per annum

Benefits: Salary, 13th cheque, pension, medical aid, housing allowance/subsidy, funeral cover, UIF

Essential Requirements: The ideal candidate must be between the ages of 18 – 35 and possess the following: Minimum Grade 10, minimum 2 years gardening experience proven by a reference letter from traceable reference/ s, fluency in IsiZulu and English, a valid driver’s licence (driving competency will be tested).

Recommendation: Landscaping design experience will be an added advantage

Duties: General Garden and grounds maintenance which includes: Keeping the museum grounds clean and safe from hazardous obstacles at all times, cutting and trimming trees, pruning shrubs, fertilizing and mowing lawns, weeding gardens and keeping walkways clear of debris and litter, disposal of garden and general refuse, safe use of gardening equipment and machinery e.g. mowers, trimmers and leaf blowers including maintenance of such, assisting with movement of assets, assist in setting up of venues for Museum events and cleaning up afterwards, assisting with general maintenance of museum buildings i.e. cleaning of gutters, downpipes, replacement of fitting light bulbs, painting etc.

Abilities and skills required: Ability to use different gardening equipment (mowing, trimming and pruning equipment), ability to lift heavy objects, good inter-personal skills and ability to work as part of a team, flexibility and knowledge of synthetic and natural fertilizers.
