Job Description
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage, maintain and improve the company Health & Safety Management System (Fieldwork 24) in line with audited requirements and the ISO standards.
Lead the drive for continual improvement of these standards throughout the company irrespective of the region.
Participate in and support Internal teams in proposal preparation, contract Implementation, ensuring effective control of Health and Safety System documentation, producing scheduled reports for Management, etc.
Provide H&S guidelines and input to questionnaires, pre-qualifications, tenders, and contracts.
Serve as safety consultant on construction and space planning projects; conducts workplace or site assessments and reviews work activities such as working at heights or request permits to work from customer to ensure safe performance; reviews safety program (IIPP) of contractors; periodically performs site inspections as needed to ensure safety of construction sites.
Liaises with all departments internally and externally (external auditors) as necessary to maintain and enhance the Company’s reputation for Safety and uphold ISO certification.
Schedules and participates in management reviews of the quality system; identifies and recommends any changes or innovations to policy, procedures, training and organization to further the Company’s goals to be leaders in reliability and Safety.
Performing corrective action investigations, determining root causes and defining corrective/preventive action measures based on the ISO Standard.
Manage and handle NCR’s (Non Conformance Reports) and CAR’s (Corrective Action Reports) through the use of company’s internal tracking system.
Keep abreast with regulatory and industry standards, i.e. Spectrum regulations, ECNS, ECNIA, Competition Commission, POPI, Standards eight of 2008, etc.
Conducting internal and external meetings. Meets regularly with Risk Management staff to ensure appropriate action is taken in compliance with safety policies to correct hazardous conditions
Act as lead auditor with strong emphasis on H&S regulation requirements.
Identify process and product deficiencies and research improvements.
Train new and current employees. Initiating and coordinating training plan and updating information for personnel on training matrix.
Facilitates all forms of risk assessment e.g. general, fire prevention and acts as a final authority where a specialist response is required in relation to risk assessments performed by others.
Implemented and conduct health and safety inspections and audits program including the completion of documentation of compliance and corrective actions taken or to be taken.
Liaising with Department of Labour regarding reportable incidents and accidents.
Monitored implementation and enforcement of H&S requirements in all areas of responsibility.
Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual reports; maintains proper documentation to conform with record-keeping requirements of OHS.

Keep H&S files for the respective area up to date at all times, prepare the file for the respective team that do go out to site, review the H&S file after site completion to ensure that its completed correctly and if any risk stands out to assist the team to update departmental risk assessment.

Compile monthly reports for the Customer, attending daily/weekly/monthly meetings with the customer.
Provide information to Group company on incident statistics and assist when required and compile quarterly report.
Coordinate company’s emergency procedures as and when required
Coordinate weekly safety talks in the workplace and guide the relevant teams to run a toolbox talk and run a monthly safety campaign in the respected area to maintain and uphold compliance.
Ensure that all employees yearly medicals and seafarer medicals is up to date.
Qualifications:
- Grade 12
- Relevant Degree/Diploma or equivalent in the H&S
- National Safety Diploma / NEBOSH will be an advantage
Experience:
- Min 4 years’ experience in enforcing the OSH Act within organisation
- Broad knowledge of legislation related to OHS Act, Regulation, Policies, Procedures on Health and Safety practical experience on implementing health and safety in the work place including contractor management
- Experience in audits and auditing processes
Other requirements:
- Knowledge and understanding of H&S Systems, policies and procedures
- Comfortable interacting with program and project leaders to develop, implement, and manage quality control measures

- Able to prepare audit assessment and findings reports
- Comfortable making recommendations for changes to processes, procedures, or policies based on review of health and safety control metrics.
- Experience creating and implementing inspection criteria and procedures
- Able to perform quality testing, inspection activities and auditing.
- Able to maintain records and documents related to quality assurance
- Experience conducting audits against project deliverables using defined success criteria
- Strong documentation keeping best practices
- Strong root cause and trend analysis reporting skills. Develop and monitor quality control metrics providing regular reports to program management.
- Managing the respective area and employees on PPE, inspection, maintaining, issuing and handing back old or expired PPE.
- Run a monthly SHEQ meeting in the region to ensure day to day compliance and to prep for the 3 monthly SHEQ meeting runed by the Operations Manager.
- Coordinate the registration and disposal of hazardous waste.
