Functional Definition
- Performs a variety of routine and complex administrative, technical and professional work in analysing various components of Health, Safety, Environmental and Security issues.
Job Description
- Develop, implement and maintain an effective program and ensure compliance to satisfy the requirements of National Legislation e.g. the OHS, COID and ISO 14001. In so doing protect our shareholders and management from any legal consequences which may be held against
them. - Develop, implement and maintain rules and procedures for control and disposal of company assets.
- Develop, implement, maintain and effective Security Program to ensure that employees are not at risk.
- Perform risk analysis for Safety Critical areas.
- Perform Fire prevention risks assessments.
- Implement training programs to ensure staff awareness.
- Conduct Health and Safety Inspections
- Hold regular Safety meetings between management and Safety representatives.
- Compile IOD statistics reports
- Investigate all IOD cases
- Ensure that all waste materials are disposed of in a “green friendly” manner.
- Control the authorization of any items leaving company premises
- Adhoc inspections to be performed during and after normal working hours
- Control of collection of scrap materials
- Install and maintain an effective surveillance camera system.
- Hold regular meetings with Senior management and security management
- Review risk assessments and confirm compliance to OHS and Environmental acts
- Ensure that all fire extinguishes are in good working order
- Devise a fire risk prevention plan
Minimum Qualification and Experience
- National Diploma in Safety Management
- SAMTRAC Certificate (Registration) or similar knowledge of OHS Act, COIDA, ISO 14001 and other applicable legislation
- Good Computer literacy
- Five years relevant working experience (Manufacturing experience will be an added advantage)
- Thorough understanding of Rules and Regulations pertaining to disposal of unwanted Company assets
- Understanding of Workman’s Compensations act and rules
- Knowledge of Employer and Employees rights with regard to Health, Safety and Risks
