
The Department of Health is seeking qualified candidates for the Driver position located in Johannesburg, Gauteng.
POSITION: DRIVER
Directorate: Medical Bureau for Occupational Diseases
REFERENCE NUMBER: NDOH 38/2025
SALARY: R163 680 per annum, (plus competitive benefits)
CENTRE: Johannesburg
REQUIREMENTS:
- An NQF level 3 (Grade 10 certificate or equivalent).
- At least one (1) year driving experience.
- Knowledge and procedures to perform messenger functions and do routine office administrative support function.
- Knowledge of physical inspection of vehicles and interpret instructions for proper use of all controls for safe operation of vehicles.
- Good people skills. Ability to read/write.
- Ability to interpret and follow operating manuals, maintenance manuals and service charts.
- A valid driver’s license (with PDP).
DUTIES:
- Perform driver functions. Drive light and medium motor vehicle to transport passenger and deliver other items (mail and documents).
- Do routine maintenance on allocated vehicle and report defects timely.
- Complete all the required and prescribe records and logs books with regards to with regards to the vehicle and the good handled.
- Collect and deliver documentation and related items in the department.
- Copy and fax documents. Assist in the registry.
- Render a clerical support/messenger and related items in the office.

NOTE: All short-listed candidates will be subjected to a technical exercise that intends to test relevant technical elements of the job, the logistics of which will be communicated by the Department. Following the interview and technical exercise for SMS posts, the selection panel will recommend candidates to attend a generic managerial competency assessment (in compliance with the DPSA Directive on the implementation of competency-based assessments).
The competency assessment will be testing generic managerial competencies using the mandated DPSA SMS competency assessment batteries.

The Z83 must be fully completed (in line with DPSA Practice note), failure to comply will automatically disqualify the applicant.
