Job Description
- Ensures accurate and timely completion of prescribed analytical procedures and accompanying administrative duties;
- Optimizes the use of the equipment in the preparative section of the Dairy Laboratory i.e., instrument maintenance and verification;
- Ensures that the accommodation and environmental conditions of the Laboratory are controlled and records are kept accordingly;
- Recording of quality control samples;
- Sample registration on LIMS;
- Provide support to the Senior Laboratory Analyst;
- Self management;
- Effective stock management;
- Minimize financial risks;
- Implementation of Quality Management System – ISO 17025;
- Communication and reporting to internal stakeholders
Job Requirements
Minimum Qualification required:
- National Diploma or Degree in Analytical Chemistry / Food Technology or related qualification
Experience and Knowledge Required:
- General knowledge and experience in laboratory procedures i.e., preparation of chemicals and standard solutions, and sample preparation techniques;
- Implementation of standard operating procedures and test methods;
- Data capturing and basic report writing
- Good housekeeping principles;
- Health and safety principles in a laboratory environment;
- Internal verification of laboratory equipment e.g. balances;
- Checking quality and suitability of chemicals;
Skills required:
- Well-developed interpersonal skills;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills;
- Computer literate – MS Word and Excel;
- Sound technical record keeping techniques;
- Ability to work under pressure;
- Propensity to pay attention to detail;
