The successful candidate will report directly to the Risk Manager and will be responsible for organizing and managing laboratory personnel, maintaining equipment and analytical methods, and ensuring compliance with ISO standards, including ISO 9001, ISO 17025, ISO 45001:2018, and ISO 14001:2015. The role also involves overseeing the Quality Laboratory Information Management System, generating customer certificates of analysis, and maintaining safety, health, and environmental procedures in the laboratory.
Applicants should have Grade 12 with Mathematics and Physical Science, along with a qualification in Analytical Chemistry and 1–2 years of experience in a similar role. LABORATORY TECHNICIAN (PG 09)
Idwala Industrial Holdings, with interests in lime, carbonates, magnetite and other industrial minerals in various locations, has an opportunity for a Laboratory Technician based at its Danielskuil operation in Northern Cape, reporting directly to the Risk Manager.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
- Organize and manage laboratory personnel
- Maintain laboratory equipment and analytical methods
- Management and control of the quality Laboratory Information Management System
- Responsible for the maintenance of ISO 9001 and ISO 17025 Management System and implementation of any alterations
- Generate customer certificate of analysis
- To ensure laboratory compliance with the ISO 45001:2018, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 9001:2015 Management system
- Ensure competency of Laboratory personnel
- Participate in various Round Robin scheme or inter-laboratory comparison
- Ensure availability of lab consumable, reagents and chemicals
- Standardisation of laboratory chemical solutions
- Maintain Safety, Health and Environmental Standards and Procedures in Laboratory
REQUIREMENTS:
- Have Grade 12 preferably with Mathematics and Physical Science
- 1–2 years’ experience in similar role
- Be in possession of a recognised qualification in Analytical Chemistry
- Be computer literate, with sound knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel
- Be prepared to work in a dusty environment
- Report writing with excellent communication skills
- Familiar with Mining/Manufacturing environment
