Idwala Industrial Holdings, with interests in lime, carbonates, magnetite and other industrial minerals in various locations, has an opportunity for Trainee Lab Analyst based at its Carbonates operation in Port Shepstone, reporting directly to the Lab Foreman.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
- Exposure to Analytical Techniques such as pH measurement, X-ray fluorescence, Gravimetric analysis, Titration, Particle size distribution, Colour using Elrepho 450
- Application of Quality Control Procedures to ensure accuracy and reliability of results
- Operation and Basic Maintenance of a variety of laboratory instruments under supervision
- Perform precise sample preparation for chemical analysis, maintain cleanliness and prevent cross-contamination
- Accurate data Recording and assist in Laboratory reports
- Interpretating results using specialised software systems (LIMS)
- Adherence to Food Handling Hygiene Practices (FSSC 22000:2018)
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have completed S4 in Analytical Chemistry
- Must have a letter from the institution confirming eligibility for workplace experiential program
- Must be proficient in Microsoft office (Excel, Word)
- Must be highly motivated and possess excellent communication skills
- Must be eager to learn and have excellent communication skills
- Must be deemed medically fit in terms of MHSA 29 of 1996
