Position: Risk Officer

Minimum Appointment Requirements
Matric/Grade 12 Certificate; ▪NQF Level 7 in Risk Management / Compliance / Finance/ Law/; ▪NQF Level 8 in Risk Management / Compliance / Finance/ Law is an advantage; ▪3 years’ experience in risk management or compliance, of which 2 years is in a supervisory capacity; ▪5 years’ experience in risk management or compliance, within a legal environment, of which 2 years is in a supervisory position is an advantage; ▪Legal Practice Act, No 28 of 2014; ▪Section 109 Regulations; ▪Code of Conduct for all Legal Practitioners, Candidate Legal Practitioners and Juristic Entities; ▪Rules of LPC; ▪Risk management; ▪Compliance Program (Management); ▪Corporate governance (King Reports); ▪Relevant Legislative Requirements for LPC; ▪The following certificates are an advantage: Certified Risk Management Practitioner (IRMSA), Certified Compliance Practitioner (CISA), Certified Fraud Examiner (ACFE).

Key Responsibilities
Executing Risk Management Processes: Risk Identification, Risk Assessment, Risk Mitigation / Control, Risk Monitoring, Risk Reporting; ▪Implementation of the approved risk management plan; ▪Assist National Office and Provincial Offices with monitoring the risk register; ▪Keep abreast of trends in risk and compliance; ▪Monitor the implementation of risk management framework and policy; ▪Assist the Risk Champions on risk and compliance concerns escalated to National Office; ▪Produce reports on the following for review by Senior Manager Risk and Compliance: Progress against the approved risk management plan, Assessment of the risk maturity level achieved; ▪Coordinate training across LPC (National and Provincial) on risk management framework, and policy (including other policies related to Risk and Compliance Dept); ▪Provide inputs for the quarterly risk awareness articles for the LPC; ▪Assist in the preparation of the Risk and Compliance Committee agenda; ▪Consolidate the Risk and Compliance action list and submit it to the Senior Manager for review; ▪Monitor and update the LPC risk register; ▪Assist in the development of Risk and Compliance department policies; ▪Allocate workload and duties to subordinates; ▪Monitor individual performance, in accordance with performance objectives, daily; ▪Participate in the performance review of subordinate and address areas of non-performance, make recommendations on staff development and training requirements; ▪Provide coaching to subordinates on work assignments; ▪Counsel staff to address discipline and workplace conflict in accordance with policy and procedure.

Key Responsibilities
Reconcile interest payments;▪Import data from reconciliations on records;▪Receive and capture audit reports;▪Verify audit reports as per checklist and ensure reports are received in the original format;▪ Identify possible areas of non-compliance on minor issues;▪Identify firms that have not submitted audit reports within the allocated timeframe;▪Prepare reports on areas of non-compliance and non/late submissions for submission to the line manager;▪Send out letters requesting payment for late submissions;▪Capture approval on electronic portal linked to Fidelity Fund System;▪Prepare letters to enforce compliance;▪Perform procedures relating to new and closed legal practices in accordance with accounting rules;▪Produce monthly statistic reports;▪Assist in the handling of telephonic enquiries;▪ Attend to walk-in enquiries, as and when required;▪Handle visitors and attend to general enquiries;▪Keep a record of all correspondence and enquiries;▪Maintain an updated departmental database;▪Maintain up-to-date and accurate files of all correspondence and documentation;▪Provide guidance and transfer of skills to junior administrators;▪ To assist Legal Officers with investigations liaise SAPS and IRBA keep a diary;▪ Assisting with processing audit and exemption reports;▪ General administrative duties.

Key Responsibilities
Receive correspondence for the department; ▪ Sort, organize and maintain records of the department accurately▪; Streamline document filing process ensuring their availability at all times; ▪ Manage document structuring to ensure easy finding and retrieval when required; ▪Maintain a record of finalized files for storage; ▪Capture data into the system; Make copies of documents for the agenda; ▪Complete requisition for files used in the department; ▪Liaise with the document warehouse on the collection of documents/ files for offsite storage in accordance with company policy and procedure; ▪Retrieve files from archives;
▪Assist in handling telephonic enquiries and walk-ins; ▪Assist in maintaining a proper filing system ensuring that correspondence and documents are accurately diarized and filed.
