Legal Resources Centre invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for Communications Intern.

Position: Communication Intern

Location: Johannesburg, Gauteng

This is a fixed term contract for 12 months

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Communications Team to draft high quality strategies, messages and campaign content
  • Design and produce visual content for digital channels and print publications
  • Assist with the coordination of events and workshops as and when required
  • Support the Communication Team in developing and implementing advocacy campaigns
  • Help gather data, analytics and insights for campaigns
  • Perform administrative tasks such as conducting ad hoc research, following up on action points, reporting back on campaigns and compiling media reports.

Key competencies:

  • Ability to generate and implement ideas from conception to execution
  • Highly organised with excellent research, verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure, independently and in collaborative endeavours
  • Ability to think strategically and creatively
  • Graphic design skills using Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Commitment to quality and attention to detail

Preferred qualifications and experience:

  • Currently studying or a recent graduate in Communications/Marketing/Graphic Design or related qualification
  • Ability to create visual and written content for digital media and/or print media
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent writing skills and editing experience
  • Website and social media content management experience will be an advantage
  • An interest in progressive social issues and a passion for the power of strategic communications to contribute to social change
