The Millennium Foods invites interested and suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of Health & Safety Officer to be based in Cape Town, Western Cape.
Position: Health & Safety Officer – Millennium Foods / Cape Town
Reporting to: Operations Manager
Location: Killarney Gardens, Cape Town
To develop, implement & manage the Safety, Environmental & Security functions for Libstar Perishables Category as well as control documents & review all systems applicable to this function and ensure functions of subordinates are carried out accurately and timeously.
Maintain legal compliance to all applicable legislation, minimise & mitigate risk for the Libstar Perishables Category, Management and Employees.
Works within the planned structure laid out within the SHE/Security Management systems developed. Must be able to work according to plans laid out & make day to day decisions.
Key responsibilities (but not limited to):
- Monitor & Maintain SHE (Safety Health & Environmental) Management Systems
- Monitor & Maintain Security Management Systems
- Ensure Legal Compliance to all relevant and applicable Legislation
- Ensure compliance of all – SHE (Safety Health & Environmental) Management Systems
- Implement & ensure compliance of all – Security Management Systems
- Do SHE Audits as per the required frequencies
- Do Security Audits as per the required frequencies
- Review and revise all SHE & Security Management Systems annually together with the Group SHE Manager
- Ensure that all Incidents are recorded, investigated and corrective & preventative action is taken
- Report on all Incidents to the Management Team
- Implement efficient & effective management system in the HACCP Laundry (if applicable)
- Document Control of all functions (SHE, Security & Laundry)
- Liaise with all Departments – Managers and Employees
- Liaise with Security & Laundry Service providers
- Liaise with Local Authorities, Suppliers & Governmental Agencies
- Plan and maintain Budgets applicable to functions
- Internal and external audit co-ordination
- Co-ordinate external Audits (Safety, Environmental & Risk (Fire))
- Advise Management on Legal compliance/Maintain Legal Compliance
- Report on KPI’s – Weekly & Monthly
- SHE/Security Administration
- Prepare and manage all aspects of the Safety, Health, Environmental & Security Budgets
- Manage KPA’s of Subordinates (OHNP, Verification Team, Laundry Team & Systems Admin.)
Technical Skills and Experience:
- Safety, Health & Environment
- SAMTRAC or B Tech Diploma in Occupational Health, Safety & Environmental Management
- 3 to 5 years’ Experience in Industrial environment
- Security
- Grade A/Diploma Security Management
- 3 to 5 years’ experience in Security in Industrial environment
- Safety Management Certificate – SAMTRAC or B Tech Degree/Diploma
- SHE Auditor Certificate
- Security Management either Diploma or Certificate
- Environmental Management Certificate or Diploma
- Occupational Health Diploma
- 5 years SHE/Security experience
- Registration with Professional Safety Body
- Driver’s license (Code 8)
- Staying current with all Legislation required for Safety, Health & Environment
- SHE/Security Trends
