DATABASE (TEMPORARY APPOINTMENTS)

Council is requesting applications to be added to the database and will be valid for one year. This database will serve as a source document for temporary appointments as and when the need arises in the different departments.

Candidates must reside in the jurisdiction of council. Proof of address will be requested. Database for the following positions will be created:

DIRECTORATE: CORPORATE AND PUBLIC SAFETY SERVICES
DEPARTMENT: PUBLIC SAFETY SERVICES

TRAINEE TRAFFIC OFFICER

Duties will entail
To ensure that all applicable legislations (NRTA 93/96& NLTA 5/2009) are being effectively enforced

  • Enforcing municipal by-laws
  • Execute instructions in line with weekly and monthly plans that are associated with traffic plans and programs as instructed by immediate supervisor in assisting the section to achieve its key service delivery objectives with respect to traffic services.

Requirements:

  • Grade 12
  • Code B driving license
  • Relevant Traffic Warden qualification
  • 0-2 years traffic warden experience
  • No criminal record
  • Physically and mentally fit
  • Firearm proficiency will be an added advantage.

LEARNER LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER

Duties will entail
Directs effective patrols to prevent crimes

  • Proactively address matters in problem areas as required
  • Responds to calls promptly and effectively
  • Recognizes unusual activity and intervenes appropriately
  • Understands geographic and community-based responsibilities
  • Understands policies and regulations governing pre-patrol issues, preparing and reporting for duty
  • Assesses emergency situations and calls for support as necessary
  • Maintain physical control over individuals as necessary
  • Complies with use of force policies and legislation
  • Follows arrest procedures and protocols according to policies and regulations
  • Initiates self-directed activity within the patrol area
  • Able to apply knowledge of local non-criminal statutes and regulations for minimizing community safety issues
  • Control critical incidents using standards operating procedures
  • Exercises judgement in stressful conditions
  • Ensures safety of others whilst using force.

Requirements

  • Grade 12
  • Basic Law Enforcement qualification/ Peace Officer (Traffic warden, Traffic officer or SAPS) obtains from an accredited training institution
  • Code B driving license
  • No criminal record
  • Firearm proficiency will be an added advantage
  • 0-2 years relevant experience
  • Crime prevention.
