The Sea Harvest invites interested and suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of Junior Payroll Accountant to be based in Cape Town, Western Cape.

Reporting To: Payroll Accountant/ Payroll Manager
Location: Cape Town, Western Cape

The following vacancy exists within the FINANCE DIVISION in Cape Town (South Arm Rd, V&A Waterfront)

JOB PURPOSE:
Assist in the accurate and timely processing of payroll-related financial transactions. This role involves working closely with the payroll and finance teams to ensure payroll data is accurately recorded, reconciled, and reported.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

  • Assist in reconciling payroll accounts with the general ledger, ensuring that all payroll-related transactions are accurately recorded.
  • Work closely with the payroll team to ensure accurate payroll processing, including the calculation of wages, bonuses, deductions, and taxes.
  • Participate in internal and external audits by providing necessary payroll accounting documentation and explanations.
  • Respond to payroll-related inquiries from employees, providing clear and accurate information regarding payroll accounting matters.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • BCom Degree in Finance / working towards one
  • 1-2 years previous experience in payroll accounting, finance, or general accounting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting software. Experience with payroll systems advantageous (Sage 300.)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex payroll accounting concepts clearly.
  • Ability to handle sensitive financial and employee information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Strong collaboration skills, with a willingness to work as part of a team and contribute to collective goals.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
