Position: Engineering Learnership Programme 2024.

South Deep Gold Mine is offering aspiring Employees and or prospective Applicants from within our Host
Communities interested in pursuing a career in Engineering, the opportunity to enter into a formal Engineering Learnership programme.
To qualify as an Applicant from a Host Community you would need to:
a) Be a resident of one of our Host Communities being Bekkersdaal, Zuurberkom, Thusanang, Hillshaven, Westonaria, Poortjie, Simunye, Kalbasfontein or Jachtfontein, and
b) Successfully have passed the 4 x N3 Trade specific subjects as required by both the MQA and South Deep mine.
The programme offers practical work-based training and external technical training to enable learners to adapt effectively in the world of work and to qualify as artisans at the end of their programme.
Engineering Learnerships – Fitter (including machining
Requirements:
- Grade 12 with Maths and Science
- Be in possession of full N3 qualifications with 4 subjects i.e., Engineering Mathematics, Engineering Science, Mechano-Technology Trade theory and Engineering Drawing
- Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre and pass a Heat Tolerance Screening test, and such other tests as may be required to assess the applicant’s suitability for employment.

Engineering Learnerships – Diesel Mechanic
Requirements:
- Grade 12 with Maths and Science
- Be in possession of full N3 qualifications with 4 subjects i.e., Engineering Mathematics, Engineering Science, Diesel Trade theory and Engineering Drawing
- Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre and pass a Heat Tolerance Screening test, and such other tests as may be required to assess the applicant’s suitability for employment.

Engineering Learnerships – Millwright
Requirements:
- Grade 12 with Maths and Science
- Be in possession of full N3 qualifications with 4 subjects i.e., Engineering Mathematics, Engineering Science, Relevant Trade theory and Industrial Electronics
- Millwright learners must have 2 trade theory subjects N3 level (Electrical & Fitting) plus 3 other subjects.
- Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre and pass a Heat Tolerance Screening test, and such other tests as may be required to assess the applicant’s suitability for employment.

Requirements:
- Grade 12 with Maths and Science
- Be in possession of full N2 qualifications with 4 x subjects i.e., Engineering Mathematics, Engineering Science, N2 Rigging Trade theory and Engineering Drawing
- Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre and pass a Heat Tolerance Screening test, and such other tests as may be required to assess the applicant’s suitability for employment.

Kindly note:
Shortlisted applicants will be required to undergo psychometric evaluation as part of the selection process. Successful applicants will be required to sign a training contract for the duration of the training programme. The training contract is not a contract of employment.
Preference will be given to learners residing in the South Deep Host Communities as well as female applicants.
