POSITION TITLE: Finance and Operation Intern
LOCATION: Rosebank, Johannesburg (hybrid)
REPORTS TO: Finance and Operations Coordinator
STATUS: 1 year contract
Summary: Trevor Noah Foundation (“TNF”), a proudly South African public benefit organisation, seeks a Finance and Operations Intern to support the administrative functions of our Finance and Operations team. TNF increases equitable access to
education for youth (ages 5-35) in historically disadvantaged African communities.
We do this by working alongside a network of global and local partners, teachers, and youth to build intentionally designed environments conducive to learning and excelling.
Overview of Position: Reporting to the Finance and Operations Coordinator, the Finance and Operations Intern will work closely with all departments to support implementation of strategic goals. The support will cut across responsibilities in finance, programmatic, operational support, and administrative-related duties to ensure smooth operations and timely support. They will have the opportunity to
contribute to the growth and development of impactful education programs that make a difference in the lives and communities across South Africa.

Roles and Responsibilities:
Procurement
- Collaborate with all departments to ensure that procurement needs are met efficiently
- Maintain accurate procurement transactions and process purchase orders and supplier invoices
- Liaise with suppliers, including record management and communication
- Arrange coordination for travels and events in collaboration with all departments
Financial Management
- Process data entry and process payments
- Compile finance documents and ensure completion and accuracy
- Assist with the documentation and organisation of financial records
- Assist programmes with tracking expenditure
- Administering of Donations, including communication to relevant donors
Human Resources Support
- Assist with the administration of HR (Human Resources) processes, including onboarding and offboarding
- Draft any HR-related communications
- Support in maintaining employee files and records
- Assist in responding to employee inquiries and concerns
General Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support in collaboration with the Communications and
Programmes Intern - Collaborate with the team to ensure compliance with finance and operational
guidelines and policies
Requirements
Education
- Certificate, Diploma or pursuing a degree in Finance, accounting, business, or related field
Functional Competencies – Skills, Knowledge, & Experience
- A minimum of six months related experience would be advantageous
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Fluency in English is essential, and at least one African language
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel
- A demonstrated passion for the education, youth, or community development

Additional requirements:
- Clear credit history and no criminal convictions essential
- Must be able to provide four contactable references (previous managers reported
to, if applicable) - Candidates will be required to provide their latest comprehensive CV and
certificates for all secondary and tertiary qualifications/courses - Consent will be requested to perform background checks
