2. Cleaner – Engineering and Skills Training Centre, Lebowakgomo
   Reference: WTVET 2025/24
   Number of Posts: 1 (Permanent)

Salary: R138,486 per annum (Salary Level 2), with benefits in line with public service regulations.

Minimum Requirements

• Educational Qualifications:
  • NQF Level 1 or 2 (equivalent to Grade 8 or 9), OR
  • AET/ABET Level 2 Certificate from a recognized Basic Education institution
  • Candidates with NCV Level 4 / Grade 12 or certificates in cleaning services will have an added advantage.
• Experience:
  Extensive experience in a cleaning environment is essential for successful execution of duties.
• Preference:
  Candidates residing locally to the respective campus where the position is based will be given preference.

Skills and Competencies

• Solid understanding of basic hygiene practices and the importance of maintaining a clean and safe environment
• Knowledge of facility layouts to efficiently cover cleaning tasks
• Familiarity with cleaning products and their appropriate applications
• Proficiency in using a variety of cleaning equipment and tools
• Basic literacy and communication skills to understand instructions and coordinate with supervisors
• Awareness of departmental and college policies and the ability to adhere to them
• Availability and willingness to work extended hours, including overtime, weekends, and public holidays as required

Key Responsibilities

• Perform proper cleaning of toilets, offices, equipment, and state property ensuring a hygienic environment
• Safely and effectively use cleaning materials and equipment provided
• Maintain cleanliness of reception areas and office spaces daily
• Empty office dustbins every day and dispose proper refuse in designated refuse bins
• Collect paper waste for recycling from specially marked bins
• Conduct thorough bathroom cleaning twice daily to uphold hygiene standards
• Dust office furniture regularly to prevent accumulation of dust
• Vacuum carpets at least twice per week to maintain cleanliness and presentability
• Clean windows at least quarterly on a rotational basis, ensuring a clean and bright work environment
• Store cleaning equipment and products securely and neatly in designated areas after use
• Support the preparation of meetings in the boardroom by ensuring cleanliness and readiness of the space
