The Gauteng Department of Health invites interested and suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of Driver within the Logistics Directorate at Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital. Requirements

• Grade 12.
• No experience required.
• Be in possession of a valid driver’s licence with a valid PDP at own expense.
• Knowledge and understanding of customer care (Batho Pele Principles and six Ministerial Priorities of Health).
• Good communication skills with good interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently, be prepared to work shifts and work under pressure.
• Be prepared to undergo driver’s pre-testing.
• The following will be an added advantage: 2–5 years’ experience as a driver.

Duties

• Transport patients and staff members to and from different destinations as prescribed by the Transport Manager.
• Proper maintenance of vehicles by ensuring that vehicles are in roadworthy condition.
• Safekeeping of transport documents by ensuring that log sheets and petrol slips are recorded after each trip and reporting any damages to the Supervisor.
• Transporting theatre staff and hospital staff members involved in emergency cases.
• Cleaning of vehicles after use and sanitising of vehicle interiors.

NB: Where a driver’s licence is mandatory, an exception will be granted for persons with disabilities.
