Position: Production Internship
Reporting to: Production Manager

SMC Corporation South Africa is recruiting a dynamic, self-motivated, and inspirational Production Intern to join SMC’s growing South Africa head office based in Midrand, Johannesburg. This is an exciting opportunity to gain production and assembly experience within SMC. The successful candidate should satisfy the following:
The Role:
- Use of engineering equipment and practises
- Work to production targets, maintaining accurate quality records and documentation
- Use manual inspection equipment to perform quality checks
- Ensure all works orders are completed within the planned lead-time
- Ensure the resources and machines in the factory are utilised efficiently and effectively
- With experience, manufacture machined components to engineering drawings, using set work instructions & schedules
- To ensure line side inventory is managed correctly using the order card / check card process.
- Liaise with the Production Manager to ensure efficient stock levels are maintained.
- To observe Health and Safety regulations & instructions to ensure a safe working environment
- To ensure good housekeeping is maintained within production observing the Kaizen, 5s principles and “everything in its correct place” activities
- Maintain accurate quality records and documentation
- To assist in other teams when required
Qualifications and Experience Required:
- N4 or higher Manufactring or Engineering related Qualification
- Excellent MS Office skills
- Excellent communication, presentation, and personal skills
- Ability to handle pressure and switch between tasks easily – Flexible
- Quick learning and Attention to detail to avoid errors
- Teamwork orientated but actively seek your next task
- Fit and healthy and willing to work on your feet most of the day
- Knowledge of a Tracking / ERP system will be an added advantage
- Ideally 1-year relevant experience
