The SAAB invites interested and suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of Assembler to be based in Centurion, Gauteng.

Your role

  • Lab Assistant on all MRO related equipment for repair
  • Manufacture/Modification of LRU’s and SRU’s
  • Physical Production/Repair and upgrade of LRU’s and SRU’s
  • Feedback of repair details on LRU’s and SRU’s on applicable documentation and IFS Management System
  • Monitor serviceability of issued tools/equipment
  • Inspection of LRU’s and SRU’s to conform to applicable standards
  • Business Process Management
  • High soldering capability
  • Precision soldering with excellent quality standards
  • Small component replacement/removal abilities
  • To ensure continuous adherence to all policies, procedures and production standards
  • Ensure effective execution of assigned work in line with all documentation on the ERP Shop Order
  • Observing and maintaining shelf life of materials, 5’s, ESD, FOD and other lean and manufacturing principles
  • Ability to use processes and procedures as documented in executing all tasks
  • Ensure proper use and safekeeping of tools, test equipment and special jigs used in execution of duties
  • Ability to integrate using applicable Assembly Instructions or other documentation
  • Identifies any problems and potential solutions and troubleshoots the issues using technical knowledge in a methodical manner
  • Transfer hazardous or non-hazardous waste materials to collection areas for disposal, recycling, or reuse
  • To contribute to the team to ensure the achievement of divisional and team goals
  • Timeous signing-off Documentation, files & IFS after completion of all work
  • Ensure that all testing equipment are appropriately calibrated
  • To ensure that work and production areas are clean and tidy and easily accessible at all times

Your profile


These positions require self-driven individuals with the ability to overcome technical challenges within tight timelines. The applicants need good communication skills, planning abilities and willing to work on multi-disciplinary tasks.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • 3 – 4 years working experience in PCB Hand Assembly
  • Must be able to work under minimal supervision
  • Must have a technical background
  • Basic understanding of circuit diagrams.
  • Basic fault-finding capabilities
  • To ensure that all test equipment used is in good order and in current calibration parameters
  • Ability to use standard electronic, electrical test equipment and bench tools
  • Understanding and capability to use MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Understanding and capability to use IFS

Competencies:

  • Component Handling: Proficiency in removing and replacing components
  • Assembly Skills: Ability to assemble and disassemble LRUs
  • Component Population: Competence in populating components on circuit boards
  • Special Processes Execution: Capability to execute special processes and follow special instructions accurately
  • Drawing Interpretation: Good interpretation skills for assembly drawings and circuit diagrams

  • N4 Engineering
  • Minimum N3 Electronic/ Electrical/ Mechanical
  • IPC J-STD 001
  • IPC J-7711/7721 
  • IPC-J-STD-001
