JOB SUMMARY

Officers are the first point of contact for all site visitors and directly influence each visitor’s first impression of the client and the security force. The Officer represents both the client and the security team to visitors and the public. Security Officers also manage all incoming alarms and/or notifications and dispatch patrol officers accordingly. This role reports to the Branch Manager.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Enrolment of all contractors on site via Facial Recognition software where applicable
  • Verification of induction stickers to ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety regulations
  • Enrolment of new clients to the electronic key safe
  • Issue and return of all electronic keys
  • Ensure no person removes company property from the premises without proper authorisation
  • Answer telephone calls, take messages, answer questions, and provide information
  • Monitor and authorise entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons
  • Guard against theft and maintain security of premises
  • Report daily activities and irregularities such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorised persons, or unusual occurrences
  • Apply best practices during performance of duties
  • Always display a high level of discipline and security etiquette
  • Direct visitors and employees to the correct parking areas
  • Respond to emergencies to provide necessary assistance to employees and visitors
  • Monitor and control access at building entrances and vehicle gates
  • Compile equipment checks (radios, torches, umbrellas, Securitas Vision device, panic button, etc.)
  • Perform shift changes including handover and takeover procedures for incoming and outgoing shifts
  • Document control and report writing as per client requirements
SECURITY PATROLS

Onsite security personnel shall implement a regular security patrol schedule with a minimum number of in-person patrols. The Securitas Operations Centre (SOC) will complement this with feasible video patrols using mobile remote video surveillance (RVS) solutions every day as per defined patrol times agreed with the client. In-person and video patrolling may not occur back-to-back. A reasonable amount of time must exist between patrols.

INCIDENTS THAT MUST BE ESCALATED IMMEDIATELY
  • Injuries to contractors, employees, staff, and visitors on site
  • Security policy violations by client employees, contractors, or visitors
  • Loss of keys granting access to secure client spaces/assets
  • Damage to client property/assets
  • Theft of client property/assets
  • Missing client property/assets
  • Threats, acts of violence, or criminal events involving client employees or visitors
  • Unauthorised access to secure client spaces
  • Tailgating at access and egress control points
  • Suspicious activity affecting client spaces or site areas
  • Actual or attempted brute-force or socially engineered physical breaches
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Full fluency in English
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Computer experience

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum Grade 12
  • Registered PSIRA Certificate Grade B/C
