Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidates will operate, monitor and control plant processes. Responsibilities include operating processing equipment such as pasteurisers, homogenisers and separators in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

The Operator will help maintain required production yield and throughput and assist with efficiency improvement initiatives and activities aimed at reducing operating costs.

The role also involves maintaining accurate records of production variables, including production volume, yield, plant uptime and downtime and utility consumption.

Additional duties include participating in plant cleanliness programmes, monitoring process chemicals and supplies and helping to minimise losses during production.

Quality Assurance

The Operator will help ensure the integrity of raw materials and finished products. The position requires communication with the laboratory to support quality assurance procedures.

The successful candidate may be required to sample and test process streams according to QA procedures, maintain quality records and interpret QA results. Appropriate action must be taken when quality issues are identified.

Maintenance and Safety

The Operator will communicate equipment-related problems to the maintenance department and perform preventative maintenance activities when required.
