
The Joburg City Theatres (JCT) invites interested and suitably qualified candidates to apply for the permanent position of Security Officer (X2). The role is based at Joburg Theatre and Soweto Theatre within the Building and Security Department and reports to the Building and Facilities Managers. The successful candidates will be responsible for access control, perimeter patrols, guarding duties, monitoring CCTV systems, enforcing security policies, and ensuring the safety of employees, visitors, assets, information, and facilities. The position offers a basic salary of R10,616.35 per month, excluding benefits, and requires the ability to work shifts and weekends.
Applicants must have a Matric or Grade 12 qualification (NQF Level 4), a valid PSIRA registration (Grade C or higher), and at least one year of relevant security experience. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Matric / Grade 12 or equivalent (NQF Level 4)
- Certification: Valid PSIRA Registration (Grade C or higher)
- 1-year relevant security experience
- Must be able to stand for up to 4 hours
- Basic computer literacy
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work shifts / weekends
- Good sense of judgement
- No criminal record
PRIMARY FUNCTION
- Provide access control, perimeter patrolling, guarding, security systems operations and general security services to ensure the safety and security of employees, stakeholders/clients, assets, information, and building/facilities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Patrol premises and secure entrances, windows and other access points
- Monitor CCTV and respond to incidents
- Enforce security policies, procedures and regulations
- Control access to staff, visitors and vehicles
- Issue access control permits and receive same on departure
- Ensure all visitors are fetched from reception/access control point and escorted through the building by host
- Subject employees and visitors to walkthrough detection systems and ensure weapons and unauthorized articles are not taken into buildings
- Ensure private firearms are registered and locked in an appropriate firearm safe facility
- Baggage to X-ray examination and ensure all unauthorized items/articles detected are prevented from entering the premises
- Ensure all private property brought into the building is declared in appropriate registers
- Ensure all assets removed from the premises are accompanied by appropriate asset removal permits
- Respond to all electronic security systems at the facility
- Check operation of all electronic systems during shifts
- Record all security breaches detected and action initiated to contain same
- Conduct office inspections to check compliance with office security
- Remove vulnerable assets abandoned in risk areas and keep them in safe custody
- Check building perimeter and electronic security systems on commencement and termination of shifts
- Conduct vehicle searches where appropriate and necessary
- Perform any other reasonable security duties as required from time to time
