Key Purpose
The primary objective of the Cleaner role is to ensure the maintenance of a clean, hygienic, and safe working environment at the USAASA Midrand Head Office. This position reports directly to the Senior Manager: Administration and plays a critical role in supporting the operational efficiency of the workplace through diligent cleaning and organizational tasks.
Key Responsibilities
The Cleaner will be responsible for the following duties:
- Office Cleaning: Perform cleaning of offices in accordance with established schedules and standards to ensure a consistently tidy and professional environment.
- Health and Safety Monitoring: Observe the office environment during cleaning duties to identify maintenance or occupational health and safety concerns, promptly reporting any issues to the Administration Officer for resolution.
- Supervision of Maintenance Providers: Provide assistance to maintenance service providers by guiding them to designated maintenance areas and monitoring their activities when required to ensure compliance with organizational standards.
- Stock Management: Track and record the daily consumption of cleaning and refreshment stock to monitor inventory levels throughout the month.
- Stock Replenishment: Prepare and submit a list of required cleaning and refreshment items to the Administration Officer before stock depletion to ensure uninterrupted supply.
- Stock Storage and Security: Manage the receipt, storage, and use of cleaning supplies by recording purchases, securely storing stock, and controlling access to new inventory to prevent misuse or loss.
- Meeting Room Preparation: Arrange meeting rooms according to schedules, anticipated attendee numbers, and event timings to ensure readiness for functions.
- Meeting Room Maintenance: Clear and clean meeting rooms between sessions or during breaks to maintain a professional and organized setting.
- Ad Hoc Duties: Undertake additional cleaning or organizational tasks as directed by the Senior Manager: Administration to support the smooth operation of the office.
Minimum Requirements & Experience
Qualifications and Knowledge
- Minimum Qualification: Grade 12 certificate.
- Advantageous: Possession of an Occupational Health and Safety qualification will be considered an added advantage.
Knowledge, Attributes, and Skills
- Experience: A minimum of 3 years’ experience in cleaning within an office environment is required.
Attributes:
- Attention to detail to ensure high standards of cleanliness.
- Strong organizational skills for effective stock management and meeting room preparation.
- Reliability and punctuality to adhere to cleaning schedules.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Skills:
- Basic record-keeping for tracking stock usage and reporting.

- Practical knowledge of cleaning techniques and safe handling of cleaning materials.
