The City of uMhlathuze invites interested and suitably qualified individuals to apply for the position of Casual General Worker (Beaches). The successful candidates will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of beaches and related facilities during the busy December and January period. Duties will include litter picking, sweeping car parks, cleaning ablution facilities, raking sand areas, pruning trees, and ensuring that all tools and equipment are in proper working condition. Applicants must have at least a Grade 8 qualification, be functionally literate, and possess the physical stamina required for manual labour tasks.

This temporary opportunity offers a daily rate of R371.99, with no overtime applicable. Candidates must be willing to work weekends and public holidays. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Grade 8 or equivalent
  • Functional literacy
  • Communication skills
  • Must be prepared to work during weekends and public holidays

COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS

  • Cleaning and Maintenance: Ensuring sanitation and upkeep of the work environment
  • Manual Labour: Engaging in physical work including lifting, digging, or picking
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks
  • Basic Communication Skills: Understanding instructions and interacting with team members
  • Teamwork: Collaborating efficiently in diverse group settings
  • Flexibility: Adapting to various tasks and environments

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Keep the beaches and beach facilities in a clean and hygienic condition (litter picking, sweeping carparks, cleaning ablution facilities, raking beaches)
  • Assist with weeding, pruning trees, shrubs, and trimming hedges
  • Ensure tools and equipment are in working order
