Applications must be submitted on the prescribed Z83 form, obtainable from any Public Service Department office (effective 01 January 2021) or from the DPSA website. Applications received on an incorrect Z83 form will be disqualified. The form must be originally signed and dated by the applicant and accompanied by a detailed CV with full particulars of training, qualifications, competencies, knowledge and experience. Only shortlisted candidates will be required to submit certified copies of qualifications and other supporting documents on or before the day of the interview, and such documents must not be older than six months. Failure to follow these instructions will result in disqualification.

Applicants applying for more than one post must submit a separate Z83 form and the required documentation for each advertised position. Applications that list multiple posts on one form will only be considered for the first post indicated. Withdrawals of applications must be made in writing. Photostat or faxed copies of application documents will not be accepted under any circumstances. Successful candidates will undergo Personnel Suitability Checks, including criminal record, citizenship, financial/asset, qualification, and employment verification, as well as security clearance processes. Shortlisted candidates will also complete two pre-entry assessments (a practical and an ethical exercise) to determine suitability. If no feedback is received within three months after the closing date, the application should be regarded as unsuccessful. Due to high application volumes, acknowledgements of receipt will not be issued, and communication will be limited to shortlisted applicants only. Successful candidates will be appointed on a twelve-month probation period in line with prescribed rules.
