Department of Correctional Services Hiring Social Workers – 12 Posts Available

The Department of Correctional Services (DCS) invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of Social Worker Grade 1 (X12 posts) at the Mangaung Maximum Correctional Centre in the Free State and Northern Cape Region. The successful candidates will provide needs-based social work services to offenders through individual, group, and community interventions, research, and social work administration. Responsibilities include conducting assessments, monitoring and evaluating interventions, managing resources, and handling performance information. Applicants must hold a BA Degree in Social Work, be registered with the South African Council for Social Service Professions, be computer literate, and possess a valid driver’s licence (except for applicants with disabilities). REQUIREMENTS:
  • BA Degree in Social Work
  • Registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professions
  • Computer literacy

Competencies and Attributes:
Problem solving and decision making, facilitation skills, planning, organizing, leading and controlling, project management, presentation and counselling skills. Ability to interpret policy and legislation, conflict management, coaching and mentoring, understanding of Public Service policy and legislative framework, service delivery and client orientation, integrity and honesty, assertiveness, willingness to travel, influence and impact, networking ability, and the ability to coordinate and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
