Magalies Water: Internship Programme 2026 – 2028

Magalies Water invites applications for its 24-month Internship Programme, aimed at providing unemployed graduates and students with hands-on workplace experience in various technical and professional fields. About the Magalies Water Internship Programme

The internship programme forms part of Magalies Water’s commitment to supporting skills development and workplace training for unemployed graduates and students. Through structured learning and exposure to real-world projects, interns will have an opportunity to gain meaningful experience in a professional working environment.

The programme will run for a period of 24 months and is open to South African citizens between the ages of 18 and 35 years. During the internship period, participants will work alongside experienced professionals and contribute to projects relevant to their fields of study.

Projects and Engineering Internship

Qualification: Minimum NQF Level 6 in Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering.


GIS Internship

Division/Department: Projects and Engineering – GIS
Number of Interns: 1
Location/Area: Brits Lab
Qualification: Minimum BSc in Geomatics or equivalent qualification.


Water Services – Mechanical Internship

Division/Department: Water Services – Mechanical
Number of Interns: 1
Location/Area: Vaalkop WTW
Qualification: Minimum S4 Mechanical Engineering, N-Diploma Mechanical Engineering, Bachelor of Engineering Technology in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent qualification.


Water Services – Production Internship

Division/Department: Water Services – Production
Number of Interns: 1
Location/Area: Vaalkop WTW
Qualification: National Diploma in Water Care, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent qualification.


ICT Internship

Division/Department: Corporate Services – ICT Department
Number of Interns: 3
Location/Area: Brits Lab, Head Office, Mafikeng (Far West)
Qualification: Minimum Degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, or equivalent qualification.

The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) internships provide graduates with practical experience in systems support, information management, network administration, software-related functions, and digital technologies used within a modern utility environment.

Technology graduates continue to be in demand across multiple sectors, making ICT internship experience highly valuable for long-term career growth.

Monthly Stipend

Successful candidates will receive a monthly stipend of R7,500.

The stipend is intended to assist interns with living and transportation expenses while they participate in the programme. Although internships primarily focus on skills development and work experience, the monthly financial support helps ensure that participants can effectively engage in the programme.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants wishing to apply for the Magalies Water Internship Programme must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Must be a South African citizen.
  • Must be between 18 and 35 years of age.
  • Must possess the relevant qualification for the internship being applied for.
  • Must be unemployed and available for the duration of the internship programme.
